On March 26, 2014, Helene gave birth on the 35th week of her term to her little girl Juliette, stillborn. To help her grief, she had hoped to take an imprint of Juliette's hand and feet, which she managed to accomplish with the help of the Sainte-Justine Hospital's nurses.
These wonderful imprints were a great help to Helene. Being able to touch the hand and foot of her child was comforting, and gave a sense of existence to Juliette.
Two years later, Helene and her husband James decided to create the "Juliette's Gift" foundation in order to give this gift to other parents whom, like themselves, lost their child after more than 20 weeks of pregnancy and up to a month after birth.
From June 2017 onwards, Juliette's Gift, in collaboration with the CHU Sainte-Justine Foundation, the palliative care and perinatal nurses and Orthèses-prothèses rive-sud inc. will offer this gift to parents who are separated from their child due to a death during the 2nd and third trimesters as well as up to the age of 18.
To help us reach this goal, we invite you to give generously. It costs between $20 and $25 to create an imprint. Each donation will contribute directly to help parents through their grief process.
